Our Member-at-Large announced Saturday Nominations for SKCGS President and Treasurer are open. We would be pleased to get applications soon. Write to Member-at-Large@skcgs.org so the discussion and support can begin. 

The team encourages all SKCGS Members to consider what you want from your Board of Directors, to send us your suggested candidates and consider applying yourselves. 




Your Board of directors appreciates volunteers and will support new nominees as they get to know the Board members and the outlines of their prospective positions.


South King County Genealogical Society President

The President has a vital role in leading and guiding the organization to achieve its mission and goals.

South King County Genealogical Society wants a President who: 

  1. Provides overall leadership and vision for the organization, ensuring that it remains focused on its mission and long-term objectives. 
  2. Inspires and motivates the board, volunteers, and stakeholders
  3. Works closely with the board of directors, facilitating effective governance and decision-making processes 
  4. Presides over board meetings, sets agendas in collaboration with the Secretary, and ensures that board members are informed and engaged 
The President plays a key role in developing and implementing the organization's strategic plan. To do that, they work with the board, committees, and functional areas of operations to set priorities, establish goals, and create actionable plans to achieve them. 

Specific duties: Standing Rules



South King County Genealogical Society Treasurer

The Treasurer is vital to ensuring the financial health and sustainability of the organization including budgets, financial reports, audits, and making sure that the financial policies are followed. 

The Treasurer:  

  1. Complies with all policies, procedures, and controls set forth in state and federal law and SKCGS rules
  2. Collects, records and keeps safe all SKCGS funds
  3. Adheres to the Nonprofit Act regarding gifts, grants, and contribution of cash, property, or other assets for charitable purposes consistent with Washington state laws and the organization’s Conflict of Interest policy
  4. Pays all authorized bills of SKCGS in a timely manner
  5. Maintains an accurate record of all receipts and expenditures
  6. Makes all financial records available for review as appropriate
  7. Presents a statement of finances at each meeting of the Board
  8. Presents the budget approved by the board to members for acceptance at the May Annual Membership Meeting 
  9. Distributes the year-end financial report to members within 45 days of end of fiscal year
  10. Serves on the Budget Committee
