SKCGS December Happenings
SKCGS December Happenings
Winona will be joining 27,000 of her closest
friends at RootsTech in Salt Lake City the end of February. Registration is open, but I expect hotel
rooms are scarce.
Michele and I will be attending the National
Genealogical Society Conference in Salt Lake City, May 20 – 23, 2020. Registration for that Conference is also
open. Since SKCGS is a member of NGS,
there are two NGS Member rate registrations available to our members. That is a saving of $35 from the Non-Member
rate. Learn more at ngsgenealogy.org.
Blog Editor, MaryLynn Strickland, would
welcome your contribution. Please
suggest a topic you would be willing to write about to her. Alternatively, she has some ideas of topics
that would be of benefit to our readers, but she needs someone to research and
write about them. blog-editor@skcgs.org.
A big thank you to Valorie Zimmerman for her recent series of blog posts on
DNA.

Greetings! Winona and I are looking forward to spending an evening with you at our Annual Holiday Potluck at 6:30 Tuesday evening, December 3, at her home. Your spouses, or significant others are welcome. Just warn them that they will have to listen to us talk about our ancestors. Please RSVP to Winona at vice-president@skcgs.org to let her know what you will be bringing to share and to ask her for her address if you need it.
It was great to see a good crowd at the Research Group on Friday, November 22. I have heard that several participants had good luck with their research. The next opportunity to use these free resources will be January 24, 2020. There will be a reminder in the January activities blog post.
Thank you to all who completed the Program Committee’s Survey in October and November. The Board of Directors is seriously considering your comments and suggestions. Please know that some programs were scheduled before the survey was conducted.
Speaking of the Program Committee, those of you who attended the November General Meeting learned of the medical setback suffered by our Education Director, Janet Camarata. The members of her committee have stepped right up and kept our educational activities moving without missing a beat. However, they need help. If you are willing to serve on the Program Committee, please contact me and we can talk about how you might be able to help. president@skcgs.org
The genealogy world offers many opportunities for continuing education. Legacy Family Tree Webinars is offering a one-year membership through December 2, only (the day you receive this blog) for only $24.98. That is a fabulous deal. There are over 800 webinars in their library that you can watch from home. If not for you, it would be a wonderful gift for the genealogist in your life.
