Bright Future, Many Opportunities in 2025

created by Bing ImageGenerator, February 4, 2024

As we approach the end of 2024, the South King County Genealogical Society (SKCGS) is brimming with exciting opportunities for community-minded individuals passionate about preserving local history. We see a bright future and many opportunities ahead in 2025.

Leadership Positions Available

Our society is seeking motivated individuals to step into key roles:

Society President

With our current president completing a second term in May, we're looking for a new leader to guide our organization. No prior experience necessary—just a passion for genealogy and community!

Interested? Contact Board@skcgs.org or President@skcgs.org to learn more about this rewarding leadership opportunity. We are waiting to hear from you.

Resources and Outreach Team Leaders

We have vacancies in both our Resources and Outreach teams. While our current president has plans to lead Outreach beginning in May, we welcome enthusiastic volunteers.

Want to make a difference? Email Resources@skcgs.org to explore these roles.

In each of these positions you will find valuable support from board directors and retired officers.  We all want your success.

Volunteer Opportunities

Genealogy Help Desks

We are currently helping patrons in Auburn, Federal Way, and Renton Highlands KCLS libraries, and would love to expand our reach. We need friendly volunteers willing to help people, once a month, begin their genealogy research.

No expertise required—just a welcoming attitude! Potential expansion sites include Burien and Covington libraries.

Local History Explorers

Do you enjoy visiting historical societies and museums? We're seeking volunteers to:

  • Explore local historical groups and sites
  • Write engaging blog posts
  • Help preserve and share local historical records

Our Tech User and Genetic Genealogy/DNA groups need volunteers to:

  • Greet newcomers
  • Manage Zoom chat sessions
  • Present helpful research techniques
  • Facilitate online meetings
